Mangalore, Mar 21: A workshop on 'Future of Kannada text books' was held at Govinda Dasa College of Suratkal on Thursday March 19.

The event was jointly organized by the Teachers Association (Vikas) of Govinda Dasa College and Mangalore University, Mangalore.

Speaking after inaugurating the workshop, Dr Shantalakshmi, joint director, department of education, said that literature and lessons function as the mediums to disseminate good culture to the students. The language lecturers command a special status and they are expected to accept new text books as challenges and teach the students by putting in their best efforts, she added.

Prof Muralidhar Upadyay, writer, delivered introductory speech on the occasion.

Prof K Rajmohan Rao, principal, Govinda Dasa College presided over the function.

Prof Ajit Prasad, president, Vikas, welcomed the gathering. Krishnamurty, head of the languages department proposed vote of thanks. Dr R Nagappa Gowda compered the programme. Harish, treasurer introduced the guest.
