Mangalore, Mar 22: The annual awards function was held at Karavali College on Friday March 20.

Speaking on the occasion, Gopal B Hosur, inspector general of police(IGP), western range, requested the young people to lead a value-based, good life and safeguard communal harmony.

Education must not be restricted  to earning as much marks as possible and getting employment, but it must teach the students to love and trust  the people of every community. Students must make use of the books available on the qualities required for the development of the country, he said.

Success is possible only through hard work and qualitative thinking alone, hence the lecturers and parents must encourage the students in their creative talents, said Ganesh Rao, founder president, G R Education Trust.

Ganesh Rao felicitated IGP Gopal B Hosur and Kondoori Lakshminarayana, general manager, Mangalore Refinery and Petro Chemicals (MRPL) Ltd, on the occasion.

Prof Balakrishna Gatti, administrative officer of the college welcomed the gathering. Shamsina proposed vote of thanks.

Lata G Rao, director of the trust, Venkat Rao, director and Prof Akshay Kumar, principal of the college were present on the occasion.
