Puttur, Mar 23: As the town went incident-free since the last three days, the prohibitory orders issued under section144 were withdrawn on Sunday, March 22. As such, the weekly market being held in Puttur on Monday will not be affected.

The taluk magistrate had decided to not to extend the prohibitory orders further, after being advised by the police department on the situation. Sources said that patrolling and vigil in strategic and sensitive places will however, continue as before.

The 'Gone Muhoorat' of the historically renowned annual festival of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple is scheduled to be held on April 1. March 27 happens to be Chandramana Ugadi, the New Year Day as per Hindu calendar for those who follow the lunar system of almanac. There is hope, that the people of the town would be able to celebrate both these festivals without any apprehensions and untoward incidents.
