Udupi, Mar 23: The closing ceremony of the Jewellery Certificate Course of the Manipal Institute of Jewellery Management (MIJM) was held at T M A Pai Planetarium of Manipal on Saturday March 21.

Speaking on the occasion, A Kumunan, vice-president, Precious Microtech Private Limited, Chennai, said that the use of software technology in the field of jewellery must be centred around giving new, imaginative appearance and shape to the gold. 'Precious Cad', the software meant for the purpose, has opened up tremendous opportunities to the customers to choose the designs they want, he noted.

A range of fashion jewellery will be possible with the usage of innovative technology. The customer can decide the design and quantity of gold required for the jewellery items of their choice very easily, if they use this technology, he said.

Presiding over the function, Dr G K Prabhu, registrar, Manipal University, recollected his recent visit to the Bangkok, where software was being used by the barbers to show different hair styles possible on the computer screen in the saloon, enabling the customers to choose from a number of styles.

A Kumunan appreciated the jewelry design created by the specially-abled participant D Pawan, by using the Precious Cad software, during the course of camp.

Sadhana Kini, woman entrepreneur and other participants of the camp shared their experiences on the occasion.

Dr M N Shanbhag, director, MIJM welcomed the gathering. Spandana compered the programme.
