Mangalore, Mar 25: “The religion was established for the purpose of enabling people belonging to all sections of the society to have a cordial and harmonious co-existence. Religion was necessary to restrain people who were greedy and selfish,” analyzed Subrahmanya Math Swamiji Sri Vidyaprasanna Teertha.
He was speaking after inaugurating the religious meeting organized as part of the Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava and annual festival rituals of Sri Guru Vaidyanath Sridevi Chamundeshwari Daivastana at Bejai Kapikad in the city on Tuesday March 24.
"As long as the human being reposes faith in the existence of the Almighty, he continues to follow the religious tenets and implement the beliefs embedded therein. Religious programmes, renovation of temples and Nagabanas etc., work to reinforce such beliefs and faiths," he explained.
In his benedictory address, Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji said, it is absolutely possible for any one to appease the Lord and get closer to Him, only when the devotees are able to shake off the eight vices which try to get hold on them and misguide their actions. A person who gets rid of these negative factors is able to love every being unequivocally, he explained.
Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple managing trustee Krishnaprasad Adyantaya presided. Coastal Development Authority chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, MLA B Ramanath Rai, ex-minister K Amarnath Shetty, Kacchur Maldi temple president J Eshwar, Bangalore MRG Group managing director K Prakash Shetty, MAHE Unviersity retired vice chancellor Dr B M Hegde, Corporation Bank general manager B R Bhat, Mijarguthu Anand Alva and Karunakar participated as chief guests.
