Bantwal, Mar 25: A couple that had entered wedlock about three months ago, chose to commit suicide together by consuming poison at Nelligudde village within Vittal police station limits on Tuesday March 24.
Dinesh (35), son of Doddadka Kittanna Achary from Aryapu village in Puttur taluk, a goldsmith by profession, had married Savitri (24), daughter of Nelligudde Nadu Adka Narayan Achari, three months back. On Tuesday, the couple had arrived at the home of the bride's parents. In the afternoon, Dinesh is said to have asked his mother-in-law to bring fish for preparing lunch. When she went to the market, he reportedly fed poison to his wife and consumed it himself too.
A case has been registered in Vittal police station. Cause for this decision of the couple remains a mystery.
