Mangalore, Mar 26:
The Dayal Bagh unit of the Vimukthi Mahila Okkuta from the Ujire agricultural unit, performed a street play in the city demanding protection for the  environment from industries which cause harm to living beings.

The street play was staged against the special economic zone and PCPIR which are set to come up in the district. Through the street play, the team urged the public to say no to both the projects as they are harmful to the environment and agriculture.

The team first performed the play in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office and later at State Bank. In the evening, the play was staged at Bajpe.

The play used dances and songs to depict the harm to the environment and the loss of livelihood experienced by the farmers of these areas.

The street play was organized by Kapuchin Krishi Seva Kendra and the Citizens Forum as part of their protest against these two projects.
