Bangalore, Mar 31: The facts and figures provided by the state Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of the state at a press conference held here on Monday March 30 indicate that the BJP from among the political parties and Bellary from among the districts of the state, are clearly ahead of others as far as cases of violation of code of conduct are concerned.
CEC M N Vidyashankar informed that out of 58 cases of violation registered with the Election Commission so far, 24 happen to be against the ruling party, BJP. Congress and the JD (S) have nine cases each against them. There are 11 cases against the BJP in Bellary, four in Shimoga, three in Dharwad and two in Bangalore rural district, he added.
Out of 50 incidents of inflicting damage and destruction of public property, 29 were reported from Bellary, 12 from Shimoga and six from Dakshina Kannada district. As far as disturbances are concerned, seven were reported from Shimoga, two each from Mandya and Chikmagalur districts, he explained. In addition, four cases of extending lure to voters including a case in which SIM cards distributed by Bangalore South constituency BJP candidate, have been reported. These include two cases from Bellary and one from Hassan, he said.
"Investigations are on. If proved, we will file criminal cases against the concerned," he warmed. He also revealed that a complaint made by minister Janardan Reddy about certain happenings in Bellary district, is being looked into. Out of 8.6 lac applications received in the state by people for being included in the voters list, 5.33 lac have been disposed off, Vidyashankar divulged.
