Bangalore: Muslim Candidate performs oblation for Victory

Bangalore, Apr 1: JD(S) candidate from Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency B Z Jamir Ahmed Khan took part in the oblation (Homa) organized by his supporter Venkatesh in the city on Monday March 30, meant to invoke divine blessings for his victory.

Ahmed, who took part in the religious rituals arranged in the home of Venkatesh in Sampangiramanagar here, wore a flower garland in tune with the Hindu customs and offered prayer to the 'Homa Kunda' and performed other rituals under the guidance of the priest who presided the formalities.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, he has faith in the ritual of conducting the oblation and hence he had taken part in the rituals connected thereto. "Before being a Muslim, I am a Hindustani, Indian and Kannadiga. The country ranks first, as compared to religion," he commented.

He said he would be filing his nomination on Wednesday April 1. As far as the timing of the same is concerned, he said he would discuss the same with the party state president H D Kumaraswamy.

    It is utter hypocracy, or he is an ignorant Muslim. Being Indian means not being all in one. As a good hindu, muslim, Christian or any religions follower you can be good Indian too. Try to be strong with your belief (not a hypocrite), you can be good muslim or hindu.

    You are right Brijesh. Mr. Ahmed is a true politician, politician to the core. He wants to project the so-called "secular" image.

    Mr.Brijesh at least once in a life time don't see all in your personal point of view.  Ok, let us  take it as a political move so why don't your so called leaders  take part in their  namaz or prayers? Arent't they also Indians ?  Views like this can destroy the nation and the faith on each other.
