Mangalore, Apr 3: "Conserving communal harmony and decimating terrorism and underworld activities are the immediate challenges the policemen are facing. They have to fully accept these challenges before them with determination and devotion," advised western range inspector general of police Gopal Hosur.

He was speaking at the Karnataka State Police Flag and Welfare Day function held by the Dakshina Kannada district Police here on Thursday April 2.

"Police flag is the symbol of the power, capacity, discipline and patience of the policemen. I would add to Bulsam, Mangalore. Symbol of Power YES Symbol of Capacity YES Symbol of Discipline NO Symbol of Patience No Never, absolute nonsense. The latter two if it was YES what a difference it would have made to our lives. Try reaching a police station with a genuine law and order grievance, Try lodging an FIR, Try getting to the root of custodial deaths, Try getting the truth out of them be it the Church attacks, The Kaup incident, the Mulky girl suicide incident, the Karavali Ale incident, there are n number of examples. Can you trust CBI! No Never. So long the unscrupulous politicians tinker with the police just forget about their integrity. Tall Claims and its all hallow from inside.

Sir, "Police flag is the symbol of the power, capacity, discipline and patience of the policemen. We too solute this great symbol of the flag but few of the officials don’t following those symbols it. They should not misuse the given power, they should not mishandle their capacity, they should be fit & truthful and lastly they should have patience to hear the accused & honour their self respect before prosecuting them. The police force in the developed countries is very strict but they give respect to the accused citizen & take respect from them.
