Manmohan Singh is a Wise, Wonderful Man - Obama

PTI

London, Apr 3: It appeared like a mutual admiration society with President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh effusively praising each other after their first meeting.

The 48-year-old new American leader described Singh as a "wise" and "wonderful" man as the two leaders met on the sidelines of G-20 here last night.

"First of all I should say that your Prime Minister is a wonderful man. He is wise and decent man," said Obama, clearly impressed by the economist-PM's persona.

"He (Singh) has been doing a wonderful job in guiding India even prior to being the Prime Minister along the path of extraordinary economic growth. That is a marvel, I think, for all of the world," the US President remarked, apparently referring to Singh's pioneering role in India's economic liberalisation.

On his part, Singh told Obama: "You are much loved and respected in India."

Reciprocating young US President's lavish praise, the 76-year-old Indian leader said Obama had "brought a ray of hope" and the youth look up to him "as an icon".

Singh said under Obama's leadership, challenges like climate change could be met.

The Prime Minister said India and the US share "same dreams and same vision" and the two countries will like to work together to realise those dreams.

He invited Obama to India, saying a warm welcome awaits him there.

Obama acknowledged the role played by Singh in unleashing economic forces, because of which India was enjoying a "high stature" in the world polity.

The first black US President also hailed India's democratic and diverse character.

"India is full of diversity and energy and is complex just like the USA," Obama said.

Obama said the US sees India as a global partner and together the two countries can play a critical part in meeting the challenges of 21st century like climate change, science and innovation.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is not a powerless and puppet as claimed by Vishal D'Souza & Nagesh Nayak respectively. He is the architect of India's economy, who has put India in the map of economically powerful countries. Today we have respect from the US and many other countries because of our robust economy.

Dr. Singh may be a soft-spoken person but it does not mean that he is a weak person. His actions speak louder than his words. Advani screams from roof-top so many people think that he is a powerful person. A powerful person is the one who speaks from his action, not from his loud mouth. Advani speaks from two tongues.

He goes to Pakistan and praises Jinnah, comes back to India and talks in a different tongue. When he is in power, keeps quiet about the temple issue when not in power, he wants to build the temple. No doubt, Mr. Advani is a good politician but please don't compare him to Dr. Singh.

Apart from politics what we, Indians, need at the moment is a person qualified to get us out of this recession and lead the way for the world to do the same. I do not see any other world leaders other than Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mr. P. Chidambaram who can share this responsibility.

Manmohan was one of the persons who shaped world economy long back and then became the Governor of the Indian Reserve Bank. At this critical juncture, if we cannot put the right persons in the right place, God forbid, we will have to face the consequences.

The philosophy here is, always right thinking people recognise the right things in right people. A wise man can be judged by his humility & actions and not by his outward charisma. LKA is good in expressing outward charisma and incite an individual or a mob to his advantage which will spill the blood of innocents for no fault of theirs. May be we will live to see more in the future if politicians go on dividing people on religious lines as happens today.

Comparison is now no more silly. Mr. Advani is less decent, less good mannered, less educated, less wonderful / gentle, less wise, non-economist nor played a pioneer role in India's economic liberalization, forces to grab power out of Hindutuva and not on secular ground, principles based on divide and rule, cheated the masses to build Ram temple, holding jackal minded principles, opportunist to praise Jinnah in Pakistan. Therefore, do we require such WEAK person to occupy PM post or Do we require Mr. Singh to continue the same job who can be trusted and honorable every corner of the world ? Therefore, debate is now no more holds barred.

India is fortunate to have a scholar like Dr.Manmohan as its PM. Independent India saw just two scholars as PMs - Nehru and Manmohan Sing - and hence developed world respects India. India is well represented this time and hence got its rightful place amongst galaxy of nations. Imagine the situation if Deve Gowda or Advani had to hold one-to-one talk with leaders of developed world. What can they speak ? Manmohan is committed professional rather than a politician. We need professionals who can deliver good for India by their selfless work. People of the caliber of Manmohan and Chidambaram talk precisely to the point and they do not have to rely on advisers. They make weighted comments and take wise decisions in the interest of the nation. They do not take any extra money other than their salaries. The weakest PM in the eyes of communal politicians is infact the Best PM India has ever seen since Nehru. Time will judge and people of India will judge. World will judge who is capable and efficient PM. We must respect our PM for his personality and able leadership.

If Obama considers that Dr.Manmohan is ‘wonderful’ and ‘wise’, then why he is not supporting India in a terrorist issue instead of given financial aid to Pakistan? and indirectly promoting terrorist.

Mr Singh has contributed to the Indian economy and healthy governance, where as Mr Advani contributed negatively to the Indian politics, tore off the secular image of India and devided the society on communual lines. I sincerely request the Indian electorate to make a decissive decission in this election and hit the last nail on the coffin of communual parties. Long live secular India and India is great.
