Kinnigoli, Apr 5: The Holy Week, which reminds us of the passion , death and resurrection of  Jesus Christ began today with the solemn Palm Sunday. On this day nearly 2000 years ago Jesus triumphantly entered the city of Jerusalem  where people welcomed him with olive tree branches  and proclaiming him as son of David.

The day was  remembered here in Kinnigoli. Parishioners gathered at the  Church grounds with the traditional  coconut palms.  Fr.Alfred Pinto,  Parish Priest, blessed the palms. Fr.Melwyn Noronha, Asst. Parish Priest of Kinnigoli Church was also present .  A procession followed from  the Church ground to the Church. The whole event was marked with great devotion and solemnity.

hindus always protect hindu gods and hindu temple and hindu people.it was very importent when islam invaded india. and british invaded india etc. that does not mean indians are like soudi arabia or china. hindus always respected the religious freedom and rights of other religion . only as a last resort hindus took sword against islam . they were given many chance to back off. for example pritwiraj chohan let the muhammed gouri free for several times . hindus will not lanch attack in fear nor hindus will spread fear and unsecurity to other religions. as long as every one respect their religion and their god. i am quiet sure mangalore christians lived like a king in mangalore for generation.

Manjunath Bhat, Udupi, can you say the same TAMASAHA statement for your relgiuos functions and blocking the road. Just read the Daiji World articles on UTSAVA's in Mangalore and see if you have any sense at all. You and other people like you such as Nagesh Mama are spoiled and trying your best to make mess of everything for people from other commnunities.

Open your eyes and look around, you may see some inspiration and motivation to be a good citizen and respect people around you. Please do not live in dark ages and make a fool of yourself.

Dear Catholic Friends You are being trapped by thi s"Bhat". He is trying to provoke you and make you comment against Hindhu's. Please remember, It would not be proper to comment against Hindhuism just because one Bhat provoked you. Bhat will be Bhat. He is doing his dharma. To maintain his dominance he has to do it. Plase don't fall to his trap.

Manjunatha Bhatta don't be jealous of Jesus Chirst. He is a real son of god. You've no idea about the tamasha of Jesus. He died on the cross of your and my sins becasue we hate each other for no reasons.

Christian people are peace lovers, they do great things for all including Bhatta's who has no house to stay, who's childrens have no schools to go, your senior brothers and sisters we take care all of them. Be cautious of your comments. Tamasha are done by many of your people and create mess within thier surroundings. Grow up Bhatta!

I was part of a agitation in Delhi, Jantar Mantar, by the Christians for the cause of Dalit Christians in 1999. More than ten thousand people took part. As a precautionary measure the govt. had deployed police security. To the kind information of Mr. Manjunath Bhat, Udupi, there were just six to ten police and they were just sitting under the shade of a tree. So much for the discipline of Christians. Christians do not create havoc and do not create nuessance Mr. Manjunath. Just think of 100 people of your own doing such agitation and see for youselves how many police will be deployed by the govt!!! Palm Sunday procession was merely a reliogious event and I am sure no traffic was blocked. Be a sensible Indian to appreciate goodness and stop being pharisaic.

Please forgive Mr. Manjunath Bhat since he is blind. Catholic processions never block any roads.(See the pictures with a magnifying glass) They are well organised and sensitive to public responsibility. Even the police department vouches for the same saying that just a handful of personnel are enough at Catholic processions.

manjunath bhat this is not a tamasha of blocking road more than that it is a celebration of faith... as you also sometimes do on the road itself.

Celebration is ok, but why all this tamasha of blocking roads? Who not celebrate inside church and not cause problems for people on the road?

By these celebrations, I would say the believers faith is re inforced and would continue to do so despite the recent anti social and communual disturbances. I wish my christian brethren a happy and prosperous easter. Thank you DW for bringing these images and making our memories live.
