Mangalore, Apr 6: "The voters will give a fitting reply to the dirty politics and anti-poor policies of the BJP government which is intoxicated with power, in the ensuing election," asserted Congress Party candidate from the local constituency, B Janardhan Poojary. He was addressing a meeting of party workers from the constituency,  held in the city on Sunday April 5.

He asked the chief minister to respond to the allegation and list of purchase prices offered to the legislators coming into the BJP from other parties under 'Operation Kamala', published by a section of the press. He sharply questioned the chief minister as to whether his party suffered from dearth of capable candidates.

"In the recent past, houses of destitutes, who had occupied government land, were demolished. In spite of the opposition of the citizens, Self Assessment Property Tax Scheme(SAS) was introduced in the city. The Congress never indulged in such anti-poor policies. When the Congress was in the saddle here, our corporators ensured that the SAS was not implemented in the city, even though it was enforced all over the state. We convinced the then Chief Minister not to implement the scheme in the city," he explained. Poojary also criticized the BJP for claiming the road concretization works in the city as its own achievement, and claimed, the project was conceived and partially implemented during the Congress Party rule here.

"There were differences of opinion among our party leaders at the district level. However, the differences have since been resolved in a meeting held at the house of party leader Sankappa Rai at Puttur on Sunday. All the leaders including Bondala Jagannath Shetty, Sudhakar Shetty, Jeevan Bhandary etc., have assured to work unitedly for the victory of the party," Poojary revealed. He also expressed himself against making provocative speeches like chopping off hands, delivered by a few leaders, which he said, would not be liked by the people and that such persons would be violating the poll code of conduct.

Congress district president B Ramanath Rai reminded the people that millions of people were benefitted from the Land Reforms Act passed during the regime of the ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He lamented that many of those who got the benefit of this move, are now working against the Congress party.  Ex-minister B A Moidin said, that the BJP has been trying to divide communities like Bearies, Christians, Moolyas,  Mogaveeras, Dalits and other backward classes for the purpose of cornering votes.

Many district level leaders including K S M Masood, B Ibrahim, Kodijal Ibrahim, Gretta Rebello, Sursh Ballal, Shashidhar Hegde, M G Hegde etc., were present.

Yes, Brijesh Poojary, Mangalore, Karnataka needs a VOLVO driver to guide all sections of the society to prosperity and security. Ar'nt you rattled by incidents of the past? So far as 'dirty politics' in the congress, look back,it exists in your own house. Development and good governance is seen in every corner of India. Its much more in other states than what you see in Karnataka. Thanks to the policies of Manmohan Singh and his intelligent team. The team is a rare combination. They are brains apart which no other party can provide. They fuction above politics. What this Nation needs is intelligent people to rule. Don't be swayed by petty Karnataka Politics.

One question Mr Poojary..how can any party divide community & multiply votes at the same time??To multiply votes one needs to unify people & thats where the BJP has been successful in recent years. Your old logic of "communal" & "secular" no longer holds good as all indians are seculars by birth.Try to bring the minorities to the mainstream, rather than keep them away from the majority...if you do this congress will regain its lost glory,or else it will be dead & buried because the majority have already deserted it & minorities will soon follow suit as they will understand who their real threat is.

Good job from congress party. But I am sure that nobody can avoid the super hit victory of BJP in the future elections. Because, BJP is well blessed by lord ram and nobody can touch BJP. Because, BJP is a fire and don’t try to touch or defeat it.
