Mangalore: Arun Shourie to Visit City on Apr 7

Mangalore, Apr 6: A special lecture programme on 'India Today and Tomorrow' will be held at T M A Pai International Convention Centre here on Tuesday April 7, at 4 pm.

Veteran journalist, ex-union minister and Rajya Sabha member Arun Shourie will deliver the lecture, at the programme being organized by Citizens Council.

The Council conducts the programmes that aim at making India a leading country in the world in the future, said Prof M B Puranik, Mangalore unit secretary, Citizens Council.

People must give importance to and conduct study and research in the field of education, information technology, health care, tourism, financial and banking fields etc., to ensure that we do not lag behind in these fields as compared to other countries, he said.

The youths must be provided with good education and training programmes, so that they become employable at the global level. There is a need for making human resources more competitive in the fields of medical, engineering, banking, finance, legal, and entertainment sectors. Hence, issues and information on such topics will be discussed at the programme, Puranik informed.

M K Suvarna Kumar, convener of the Council and members like Praveen Barke and Devdas were present at the press conference.
