Mangalore, Apr 7: On the night of Monday April 6, a first information report (FIR) was registered in Suratkal police station near here, against veteran Congressman from Sagar, Shimoga district, Kagodu Timmappa. The First Chief Jusicial Magistrate Court here had directed the Suratkal police station on Saturday April 4, to register the FIR against Timmappa for his alleged call to 'chop off the hands of Hindutva progagonists' given at a meeting attended by Shimoga Lok Sabha candidate from the Congress, S Bangarappa.

As soon as the court order reached the police station on Monday, police inspector Arun Nayak initiated the process and registered the FIR at around 9.30 pm the same day and sent a report thereof to the court.
