Moodbidri, Apr 9: "Yakshagana art form has immensely contributed towards the enrichment of philosophical and legal matters, the two important branches of Indian culture. Modern laws should necessarily adopt ideas from art forms like these," advised Swastisri Bhattaraka Charukeerti Panditacharyavarya Swamiji.

He was speaking after presiding over the 'Sheni Commemoration Session' organized on Wednesday April 8 under the joint aegis of Sri Dhavalatraya Trust, Sheni Gopalakrishna Bhat Trust Mangalore and Yakshadeva Mitra Kala Mandali Beluvai, at Ramarani auditorium of Jain Math here.

Sneha Education Trust Sullia convener and scholar Chandrashekhar Damle who delivered the Sheni Memorial Lecture, said that Sheni was a teacher par excellence who imprinted his brand of knowledge wherever he worked.

Veteran Tenkutittu Yakshagana Bhagawat Agari Raghuram Bhagawat was felicitated on this occasion by the Swamiji. Yakshagana scholar and critic Dr Prabhakar Joshi spoke about Yakshagana patron Ramanath Rao who recently breathed his last.

Zilla panchayat ex-member K P Jagadish Adhikari, Sheni Gopalakrishna Bhat Trust trustee Umesh Rao, Madhukar Bhat, G K Bhat Seraje and Yakshadeva Mitra Kala Mandali convener Devanand Bhat were present. After the programme, a Talamaddale programme, 'Indrajitu Kalaga' was presented.
