Moodbidri, May 13: A father of a minor daughter was arrested here on charges of sexually assaulting her. Pandeshwar resident Ranjith Poojary (32) is the suspect of the heinous crime.
A Beluvayi resident widow has two daughters. Ranjith Poojary who had married her after her husband’s death used to visit her.
He had come to the house of his wife in Beluvayi last Thursday and had sexually assaulted her daughter. His wife who came to know about it objected.
Later, the girl complained against Ranjith Poojary at Prajna Counselling Center. Activists of the center came and took the girl with them. The suspect was arrested under POCSO act after the mother of the girl complained to the police station. Ranjith has been produced in front of the magistrate on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody.
