Kundapur, May 17: Vishwanath Shetty (37), who was from Kanki Angadibettu within Nada gram panchayat limits in the taluk, ended his life at Devadurga in Raichur district on May 14. His death came to light the next day..

Vishwanath was running a bakery at Bengaluru till some time back. Four years back, he started to operate a hotel at Devadurga. He was married seven years back and is survived by a six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son. Vishwanath was assisted in running the hotel by his wife's brother.

Initially rumours had spread terming this as murder. The rumour mongers had also claimed that Shetty was killed by pouring hot oil on his body on the night of May 15. There were boils on his body which looked like having been created by burning.

Devadurga police inspector however confirmed that Vishwanath Shetty had committed suicide due to personal problems on May 14. He said that the brother-in-law of Shetty, who operated the hotel along with Shetty, had not gone in search of him as he felt that his sister's husband would have gone to sleep. On May 15, as Shetty did not come to the hotel even at 11 am, a search was launched and he was found hanging from a rope. The police inspector said that the temperature here had reached 44 degree celsius and therefore the body had become decomposed very fast, and the chemicals from inside had resulted in the boils on the skin as Shetty had died a day before. He asserted that there is no doubt about the fact that Vishwanath Shetty had committed suicide.

Shetty's wife and children, who were in Devadurga, had recently come to native place to spend summer holidays. Vishwanath Shetty, who stayed with them for ten days here, had returned to Devadurga on may 12.

On coming to know about the shocking death of her husband, his wife left for Devadurga.
