Bengaluru: Lightning - four die in different parts of state

Bengaluru, May 28: Four persons from Karnataka lost their lives while four more suffered injuries due to lightning on Monday May 27.

Anandappa (32) from Alavala Gollaratti village in Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga district died in one such incident. Lightning struck him when he came near the door of his home to close it after seeing that rainwater was entering his home. The taluk experienced heavy rain, hailstorm, strong wind, and lightning since Sunday night.

A farmer Chandrakanth Shivaputtappa Budhivantha (35) from Kere Ambalaga village in Aland taluk, Kalaburagi district, died due to lightning. Another farmer, Manikrao Dharmanna Biraadar, who was near Budhivantha suffered injuries. He was admitted into a private hospital in Kalaburagi. Arvind (23) and Kiran (19) working as labourers were killed by lightning at Chigateri village of Harapanahalli taluk, Davanagere district. They were working in an agricultural field when rainfall started. They had taken shelter under a tree when lightning struck them. Two other labourers were injured in this incident.
