Mangaluru: Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu begins annual thirteen day novena

Mangaluru, May 31: Dr Ronald Serrao, rector of St Joseph inter-diocesan seminary Jeppu, inaugurated the thirteen day novena in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony by hoisting St Anthony’s flag and garlanding the statue of St Anthony at St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu on May 31.

In his message Fr Serrao said that St Anthony was born in Lisbon, Portugal but served in Padua, Italy.

There are two things devotees of St Anthony should imbibe from the life of St Anthony namely, importance to the Word of God. Saint Anthony preached the Word of God and thus inspired many people to live a holy life.



Secondly, he performed many miracles. Through these miracles he reached to the people in need. As devotees of Saint Anthony, we too need to practice these virtues he said.

Later, at 12 noon Fr Serrao offered Holy Mass for the intention of the youth and preached a homily.

The annual feast of St Anthony will be celebrated on June 13.

Fr Onil D’Souza director of the institutes recited St Anthony’s chaplet with the rosary. Fr Thrishan D’Souza asst director conducted the novena. Fr Roshan D’Souza was present on the occasion. A large number of devotees participated in the devotion.
