Sringeri: Two Suspected Naxal Accomplices Held

Sringeri, Apr 29: The Sringeri policemen, who have continued with their operations against the naxals, have claimed to have unearthed a racket that was working to provide information to the naxals and helping them in their anti-national activities.

The policemen have taken into custody Matolli Halappa and Ramesh Bin Honne Gowda. They have charged the arrested persons with directly or indirectly involving themselves with passing on information to the naxals about the anti-naxal raids.

Halappa was allegedly involved with a plan to explode a bomb against the policemen in Matolli village and also in the raids on Kerekatte forest office and the house of Matolli Satish Gowda.

Ramesh, a resident of Melu Shirlu village, is working behind the facade of being a merchant in the village, the policemen claim. He is a close associate of naxal leader B G Krishnamurty and was working to provide information, supplying things to them and managed affairs of naxals by moving among the people, it is said. The policemen said he was also involved with the above three incidents.
