Udupi, May 2:  In a freak incident that occurred at Mudarangady near Padubidri in the afternoon of Friday May 1, a lady who was travelling in the pillion lost her life.

Jacintha Serrao (43), a resident of Mundkoor village near here, had come to her native place three days back, from Mumbai. As she did not get an autorickshaw, she chose to travel in the bike of Prakash Acharya, who was known to her.

The policemen have charged Prakash Acharya with careless driving. It is said, he was driving the bike recklessly and Jacintha was thrown to the ground when he applied brakes all of a sudden, causing the motor bike to skid and trip on the road.
