Udupi: Silver Jubilee Celebrations of 'Sugunamala' Inaugurated

Udupi, May 2: The inaugural of the three-day silver jubilee celebration of 'Sugunamala' monthly digest being published by Puttige Mutt, was held the Rajangana of Srikrishna Mutt here on Friday May 1.

The event was organized by Paryaya Puttige Mutt.

Delivering the benedictory speech on the occasion, Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Mutt said that the Mutts,temples and other religious establishments must lay emphasis on their basic purpose and continue to work towards protecting and safeguarding Hindu religion.

The Paryaya Puttige Math Swamiji had started the 'Sugunamala' magazine with the purpose to conserving Hindu religion and culture and has continued to bring this monthly out regularly till now, which is praiseworthy, he said.

Veteran scholar Bannanje Ramacharya, Dr U P Upadyay and Dr H V Narasimhamurty were felicitated for their contribution to the success of this monthly.

Kunjaru Ananta Padmanabha Bhat welcomed the gathering. Gopalacharya coordinated the programme.

Sri Sugunendrateera Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Mutt, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati of Sri Ramachandrapura Math, Sri Charukeerti Swamiji of Moodubidri Jain Mutt, Sri Gurudevnanda Swamiji of Sri Odiyoor Math, Sri Vidyavallabhateertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math, Sri Jagadatmananda Swamiji of Ponnampet Sri Sharadashram and Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt were present on the occasion.

Later, a programme titled 'Bhavasinchana' by blind artists under the direction of Keshavamurty, Bangalore was staged.
