Mangalore: Ten Persons Arrested for Poaching Wild Animals

Mangalore, May 4: The forest department officials have arrested ten persons in connection with poaching wild animals for the 'Bappidal' ritual connected with Vayanat Kulavan Daivamkettu festival of Uduka Tekkekare Kundil temple and seized from them the carcasses of the hunted animals.

K N Muralidharan (31), T Jagadishan (29), K Anil Kumar (27), T Ratish (24), M Ashokan (30), Anil Kumar (38), K Sunil Kumar (27), K Janardanan (42), P Prashant (23) and T Balakrishnan Padpu (38), all from Kundamguli Kolattur, were arrested for the said offence.

The accused had hunted three wild cats and an iguana. They were held while transporting the carcasses in an auto rickshaw. The forest officials said that the arrested persons have been booked under the Wildlife Protect Act 1972.
