Beltangady, May 6: After a motor bike was hit by a speeding vehicle at Ichlampady Cross near Nellyadi Periyashanti in the evening on Tuesday May 5, Tirumalesh alias Gunda (25), who was travelling on the pillion, died on the spot.

Tirumalaesh, son of Kalappa Gowda from Billatil village of Sakleshpur taluk, was going to Dharmastala in a motor bike along with his brother-in law Yogendra from Somwarpet. When the bike was passing Ichlampady Cross, an unidentified vehicle hit them and sped away. Yogendra has been admitted to Puttur hospital with serious injuries. The family members who were moving to Dharmastala to conduct the marriage of Veenakshi, last daughter of Kalappa, were in a car that followed the motor bike from a distance and admitted the injured to hospital after seeing the two lying by the roadside.

Tirumalesh was the only son of Kalappa. It is suspected that an ore truck moving from Mangalore towards Bangalore would have caused the accident.  The policemen are holding investigations.
