Kundapur, May 6: In a filmy operation, four unidentified persons who arrived in a car, sprayed chilly powder into the eyes of the driver and cleaner of a tanker loaded with diesel and petrol and took the tanker away after gagging the two on the night of Monday May 4. The incident occurred at Hosangady in the taluk, on Shimoga district border.

The tanker, which was bound for Shimoga from Mangalore, reached Hosangady at midnight. It's driver Nonaiah Gowda from Uppinangady and cleaner Chandra Acharya were sleeping after parking the vehicle by the roadside. Four persons, who arrived in a car, shook them out of their sleep, stuffed clothes into their mouths, sprayed chilly powder into their eyes and forcibly took them in the car. They beat up Nonaiah Gowda and pushed him out of the car at Navunda village, while taking the cleaner with them.

The injured driver is recovering in Kundapur government hospital. Based on a complaint filed with the Shankarnarayana police station, a case has been registered and investigation is on.
