Mangalore: ‘Chiguru’ State-level Awards to be Conferred on May 9

Mangalore, May 6: A ceremony to confer the ‘Chiguru’ award to the winners of the  state -level drawing competition and also an art exhibition will be held at Amritha Vidyalaya of Boloor in the city on Saturday May 9 at 5 pm.

Veena Maruvala, owner of Vinyas Publishers will inaugurate the final round of drawing competition at 10 am, said Suresh K Pandavarakallu, Sri Chakrapani School of Arts director, speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday May 5.

In the final round, nine similar cash prizes will be given to the primary, higher primary and high school division students. The 31 merit prizes meant for deserving students will also be disbursed on the occasion, he said.

Apart from the above, the art teachers with meritorious achievements will be honoured with the ' Sadhana' awards and the institutions will be handed over 'Santrapti' awards, said Pandavarakallu.

Jaya C Suvarna, National Billava Federation president will inaugurate the awards ceremony in the presence of Brahmacharini Mangalamruta Chaitanya of Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt.

P N Punachittaya, artist, Dr K Narendra, Satish Bykampady, Harsha, journalist and S M Jambukeshwara will participate as the chief guests at the ceremony.

Satyanarayana Batrakody, Suresh Rao, Taranath Kairangala and Sundar Thodar were present at the press conference.
