Mangaluru, Jun 11: Even as the people fear for the woes which may be heaped on them by the cyclone predicted by scientists, sea erosion has begun to bother them on account of rain and wind which lashed the area on Monday. The sea erosion was witnessed at the seashore at Ullal and Someshwar Uchila.

As a result, over 50 houses are facing danger. The locals say that sea erosion has been more intense in Uchila area after permanent protective wall to the sea was constructed in Ullal.

Waves have been hitting 26 houses located in Ullal Mogaveerapatna, Ullal Kody, Kaiko, Killeria Nagar, Seaground, Mukkacheri etc. The protective wall of private resort, Summer Sands Beach', has been consumed by the waves. A building by its side has developed cracks and hence in danger.

The mosques located at Mukkacheri, Kaiko and Killeria Nagar too, are facing danger from sea erosion. After boulders were stacked to stop the advancing sea near Mogaveerapatna beach, this area has not faced any danger. Although temporary wall is being built at Kaiko, Killeria Nagar etc it is getting washed away. Eight more houses at Uchila Seaground and Peribail are facing danger from sea erosion. This area has been devastated every year by surging waves.

Muhammed Mukkacheri and Basheer visited the area affected in Ullal, while Someshwar gram panchayat president Rajesh Uchil and zilla panchayat member Dhanalaxmi Gatti along with taluk panchayat member Ravshankar Someshwar, visited the areas facing danger.
