Bhatkal, May 6: A Block Education officer and two school teachers of Sirsi town were trapped red handed by Lokayukta while accpeting a Rs 40,000 as bribe from a contractor .
The trio have demanded Rs 1 lakh from Robert Saba Roserio to issue 17 cheques due to him. Roberio had supplied black boards to 30 school. Roberio was due to Get Rs 4.8 lakh.
BEO, Devdad Manju Mogera colluding with teachers Vasanth Narayan Naik and Chowdhri demanded Rs 1 lakh from Roberio to issue the cheque. The amount was later bargained for Rs 40,000 and Roberio tipped Lokayukta sleuths while handing over the bribe amount at a ice cream parlour at Bhatkal. The trio were booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and remanded to judicial custody.
