Mangalore: Hosanagara Mela to Organize 'Yaksha Paksha' in City from May 9

Mangalore, May 7: A programme titled, 'Yaksha Paksha,' will be held at Town Hall from Saturday May 9 to Saturday May 23.

The event is being organized by Sri Ramchandra Kripaposhita Yakshagana Mandali of Hosanagara.

A variety of mythological episodes will be staged for a period of 15 days every day, through fixed time frame performances from 5 pm to 10 pm. The programme is open to all the interested audiences.

Renowned Bhagawats like Padyana Ganapati Bhat and Prafulla Chandra Nelyady, and artistes like Bantwal Jayaram Achar, Sitaram Kumar Kateel, Ambaprasad Patala, Subramanya Hegde Yalaguppa, Shivaram Jogi, Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty, Sampaje Sheenappa Rai, Jayaprakash Shetty Permude and Siddakatte Sadashiva Kulal and others will participate in different episodes.

Yakshagana episode, ' Shiva Panchakshari- Rakta Ratri' will be staged on Saturday May 9, followed by 'Sarvabhouma Sahasranika' on Sunday May 10, 'Indrakilaka- Urvashi Shapa- Kumbhanikumbh' on Monday May 11, 'Indranandana Vanarendra' on Tuesday May 12, 'Hiranyaksha Vadhe, Shoorpanaka Manabhanga- Indrajitu Kalaga' on Wednesday May 13, 'Kartikeya Kalyana' on Thursday May 14 and 'Vishwamitra Menake- Shambavi Vijaya' episode will be staged on Friday May 15.

The other performances that will be staged are 'Kayakalpa' on Saturday May 16, 'Swayamprabha Parinaya- Karnaparva' on May 17, ' Maya Tilothame - Dushyasana Vadhe- Babhruvahana' on Monday May 18, 'Leela Manusha Vigraha' on May 19, 'Yogini Sandhana- Vyjayanti Parinaya' on May 20, 'Sri Rama Karunya' on May 21, 'Drupada Garva Bhanga- Hidimba Vivaha- Bhanumati Swayamvara' on May 22 and 'Medhini Nirmana' will be held on Saturday May 23, stated Ujire Ashok Bhat, Manager of the Mela, in a release.
