Udupi, May 10: In an incident reported from Pandeshwar village near Brahmavar, Martappa Prabhu(49) and his wife Lakshmi, decided to end their lives, as they were frustrated at not being able to conceive children. Reportedly, at around 2.30 am on Friday May 8, the two consumed some poisonous substance and then jumped into the well located in the courtyard of their home.
Their relatives living in the neighbourhood, heard the sound and came running. They brought both of them out of the well and carried them to Manipal hospital. However, Martappa Prabhu, who had sustained serious injuries, expired at around 3 pm on Friday. Lakshmi is being treated at the hospital.
A case has been registered in this connection, at Kota police station.
