Kundapur, May 11: Sources in the police department have divulged that the investigation in Kambadakone Farmers Service Cooperative Bank robbery case is on the verge of being concluded, with some leads the policemen have been able to access. The personnel hope to give a final shape to the case in a couple of days, they claim.

The actual weight of the gold ornaments seized from the possession of Sanjeev Chaya Nayak (38), main accused in the case, has now been put at 11.220 kg, valued at Rs 1.28 crore, while the total weight of the ornaments stolen was 14 kg approximately. Some persons were interrogated on the basis of leads and three have already been produced in the court. The policemen have been continuing with their efforts to nab other culprits involved with the robbery, based on the phone numbers stored in Nayak's mobile.

Out of the two brothers of accused Nayak, one is an official of the irrigation department in the town while the other, who works as chartered accountant, reportedly used to collect information about the security aspects of the cooperative banks, after observing them during the annual audits. The man working in irrigation department made preliminary work for the robbery, it is said. There are rumours that the accused was hiring the services of the stone quarry workers for the robberies. As it is established that he had been involved with robberies at many places in the past, the people have been demanding that the policemen find out the identities of the persons to whom he sold the gold ornaments robbed by him in the past.

It is likely, that the arrested persons will be handed over to Byndoor police shortly, and the investigation might catch up speed thereafter. The general public in general and people whose gold ornaments had been pledged to the said bank, are concerned over the secrecy being maintained by the police department about the progress in investigations in the said case.
