Mangalore, May 12: H R Girish (28), an under-trial prisoner of Madikeri prison, breathed his last at Wenlock Hospital here, after efforts to treat him failed, on Monday May 11.
Girish was facing charges of rape at Sampaje near Sullia. After he spent nearly two years in Madikeri jail, he had been brought here for tuberculosis treatment. On April 7, he was transferred to the local sub-jail as per rules and then admitted into the hospital two weeks back.
