Chikmagalur, May 12: In a barbaric incident reported from Subhashnagar, Belagula village near Moodigere in the district, a youth who was angered by his father's advice to work, killed the latter with a knife on Monday May 11.  The accused has been identified as David, son of John Peter D'Souza.

The policemen said, John Peter D'Souza (60) and his wife Christina were busy with the arrangements for the marriage of his second daughter, scheduled to be held on May 16. John Peter had been asking his son David to help out in the marriage preparations of his sister, but David whiled away his time, roaming with his friends etc.

At around 4.30 pm on Monday, Peter again asked David not to waste time and to at least collect firewood as relatives are scheduled to arrive for the marriage any time. A verbal duel ensued between the two, after which David entered the kitchen, brought out a knife and slit the throat of his father.

In a complaint filed with the Moodigere policemen, Christina said David did not heed to her requests to admit her husband, who was bleeding profusely, to hospital.  Circle inspector G T Swami and other staff visited the spot and registered a case.
