Mangaluru, Jun 28: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, viz. The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No XXXVIII of 1949) for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in the country. The Institute functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The ICAI is the second largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world, with a strong tradition of service to the Indian economy in public interest. Over a period of time the ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for maintaining highest standards in technical, ethical areas and for sustaining stringent examination and education standards. Government of India looks at ICAI as Partner in Nation Building. Since 1949, the profession has grown leaps and bounds in terms of members and student base. Membership strength of ICAI is about 3 lac and students strength more than 7.50 lac. ICAI has registered office at New Delhi and has above 160 branches all over India and also has above 30 Chapters abroad. ICAI has always been striving for excellence in terms of standards of professional services rendered by its members.

CA Day Celebrations on July 1

It is a matter of great pride and joy that the Institute is celebrating 70" year of its glorious existence, The Institute's journey is a saga of success, excellence, independence and integrity. July 1, i.e. Chartered Accountants Day is being celebrated as a part of tradition laid down by the forefathers of the profession. This year, it becomes more special as this is a historic occasion, the Platinum Jubilee Year. This is an occasion to celebrate stupendous growth of ICAI and also to reaffirm commitment to serve the nation.

To mark this proud occasion, a function is being organized by the Institute on July 1 at New Delhi. Vice-President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu has kindly consented to grace the function as the chief guest. The function shall also be graced by eminent dignitaries.

About Mangaluru branch of ICAI

The Mangaluru branch of Southern Indian Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India was established in the year 1971. The jurisdiction area of Mangaluru branch covers Dakshina Kannada Dist and Kasargod district with more than 650 members and more than 2000 CA students registered in the branch. Mangaluru branch is considered as one of the vibrant branches of the Institute for its all-round activities, such as, organising programmes like conferences, seminars, workshops, study circles etc for its members, students and general public, and also, conducting various other activities such as social activities, sports & games, health sessions, educational & industrial tours, career counselling programmes etc. It is pleasure to mention that, Mangaluru Branch of ICAI has been awarded for its performances almost continuously for last 7-8 years. Mangaluru branch is all set to celebrate its Golden Jubilee year in the next year 2020-21.

The present Managing Committee of Mangaluru Branch of ICAI for the three year term 2019-22 has taken charge on 16th February, 2019 and the Managing Committee members /Office Bearers are CA Anantha Padmanabha K - Chairman, CA Shantharam Nayak S — Vice Chairman, CA Subramanya Kamath K - Secretary, CA Abdur Rahman Musba - Treasurer, CA Prasanna Shenoy M - Chairman SICASA Mangalore, CA Gautham Pai D - Member, CA Gautham Nayak M - Member. The present Managing Committee has a vision and mission of IPC- Innovation, Perfection & Completion: creating Innovation with a perfection aiming at its completion.

Mangaluru branch of ICAI is celebrating Chartered Accountants Day on July 1 with the active participation and involvement of the entire CA fraternity and students of the area coming under its jurisdiction.

To mark the proud occasion, the following functions/events are being organized by the Mangaluru ICAI on July 1:

Walkathon (from Mahendra Arcade, Kodialbail to ICAl Bhawan, Padil),
Planting of Saplings,
Programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,
Blood Donation Camp,
Charity for Social Cause,
Financial Literacy Programme on Career Counselling & GST at Govt PU College, Mangaluru.

The managing committee of the Mangaluru branch of SIRC of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India invites the entire CA fraternity and students and their family of the area coming under its jurisdiction to be a part of this glorious event to mark the proud occasion.
