Mangaluru: District journalist’s conference scheduled for Jul 1

Mangaluru, Jun 28: A mass conference of journalists in the district will be held in Mangaluru on July 1 together with press day.

Programmes will be held at Kudmul Rangarao auditorium from 9 am to 5 pm. Senior journalist Ishwar Kaidota will preside over the programme that will be inaugurated by Nagaland governor P B Acharya.

The souvenir ‘Samachaara’ will be released by minister U T Khader. District journalist’s association president Srinivas Nayak Indaje will express his aspirations. An exhibition of books written by journalists, film show and exhibition of pictures will also be held.

A ‘Hasiru Usiru’ programme on environment awareness will be inaugurated by Shivananda Tagadoor. Saplings will be distributed to journalists taking part in the conference.

Senior journalists will present discussion on the responsibility of media and society from 11.15 am till 12 pm. Discussion on Tulu films and media will be held from 12 pm till 1 pm. Senior journalist Manohar Prasad, film director Dr Richard Castelino, Devadas Kapikad, Vijayakumar Kodialbail, film producers Kishore D Shetty, Prakash Pandeswhar and film actor Navin D Patil will table the topics.

Discussions will be held about brand Mangaluru with editors of newspaper and TV news.

The concluding programme will be held from 4 pm till 5 pm. Senior journalists will be felicitated by Udupi district in charge minister Dr Jayamala.

Senior journalist Mohammed Arif is selected for 2019 brand Mangaluru award. It will be presented by Karnataka state additional director general of police Kamal Pant.

Cultural programme will be held between 9 am to 9.30 am, 1 pm to 2 pm and 3 pm to 4 pm.

The organizers have asked journalists to arrive in large numbers and make the programme a success.
