Mangaluru, Jun 29: A jersey cow belonging to Lalita, as resident of Krishnapura, who sells milk for her livelihood, was stolen by the cow thieves. Former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty paid a visit to her house and gave her monetary compensation.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijayakumar Shetty said, "Theft of cows not only affects communal harmony but also steals the livelihood of a family. Police have to open a special cell to monitor this activity. We have a plan of starting a campaign jointly with organization like 'Aapadbandhava'."

Accepting the money donated by the former MLA with gratitude, Lalita, who lost her cow said, "On the night of June 17, we were sleeping as usual after tying the cows in the cow shed. However, the cow thieves stole the Jersey cow from our shed in the middle of the night. I have the responsibility of rearing three of my daughters. I am desperate to stop this farming business as I have lost the cow. I express sincere gratitude for the help rendered by former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty."

Former deputy mayor Purushotam Chitrapur, Sushen Bhandary, Umesh Devadiga Idya, Cynthia Miranda Bondel, Anital of Madilu organization, Philomena D'Souza and Joshin Prewal were present.
