Udupi, Jun 29: BJP held preliminary membership campaign for 2019 in its office at Kadiyali here. Udupi BJP president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde inaugurated the campaign. MP Shobha Karandlaje released pre toll number for registration.
Shobha said that BJP is the only large party in the country that performs its work within democratic parameters. “As many as 1,70,000 members had got themselves registered during last membership campaign. 50,000 of them belong to different district. The situation has changed this time. Our party is commended as the one that has largest number of members in the world. BJP has five MLAs and MP in Udupi. We are ruling in municipal council and gram panchayat also. Therefore, we should recruit at least 200 members from the booth. We have the aim of admitting more than two crore members from Karnataka alone. Our activists are our strength. Every activist should try to recruit as many members as possible,” she said.
“The membership campaign in Udupi this time should be brisk. There is no compromise on that. There is high expectation in the district. We do not know what will happen next the way Congress and JDS are performing.”
“BJP has clear goal. 14000 C grade booths should be strengthened. Social networks should be utilized properly. The campaign should be completed by august 6 to August 11,” she said.
Udupi district president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde said that they have decided to recruit largest number of members from all over the country. “We have decided to recruit 50 lac members from Karnataka and two lac from Udupi. The campaign is being held with the slogan ‘Sath Aaye Desh Banaaye’. It will be set in motion on July 6, the birth anniversary of Sham Prasad. People from groups that are not recruited in BJP should be recruited. There is no difference of caste and religion for membership. We intend to bring them to main stream and encourage them,” he said.
Vidhan Parishat opposition leader Kota Srinivas Poojary, Udupi Chikkamagalur Lok Sabha MP Shobha Karandlaje, district panchayat president Dinaker Babu, section in charge Uday Kumar Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, co convener Sandhya Ramesh, Navin Shetty Kuthyar and others were present.
