Moodbidri, Jul 2: New well equipped building is being constructed for Moodbidri municipal council. A public interest petition was submitted to keep a distance during the construction from the monument that is in the control of archaeology department.

A joint survey was held on directions from high court. Deputy superintendent of archaeology K P Mohandas of the archaeological department, Bengaluru conducted the survey.

When distance between the monument and the market was measured with GPS instrument, the distance was found to be 180 meters. Therefore, it was confirmed that the market is under the control of the department of archaeology. The work will have to be conducted only after obtaining NOC from the department.

Municipal council chief officer Indu M and petitioner Jason Takode were present.
