Mysuru, Jul 3: High profile minister for higher education G T Devegowda, virtually gave a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP national president, Amit Shah, relating to charges of launching Operation Lotus levelled against them by a group of Congress leaders. "These BJP leaders are not trying to unseat the coalition government. They too are not trying to force legislators to resign. They have not shaken our state government," he stated.

The minister was speaking to media persons here on Tuesday July 2. "The state level BJP leaders do not have the power to cause the fall of the state government. Modi and Amit Shah can do that. BJP leaders are not indulging in Operation Lotus now. Therefore, the state government will remain stable," he added.

Devegowda said that both Modi and Amit Shah are currently busy with preparation of the budget and Lok Sabha session. He stated that they are also busy with Kashmir problem, and holding dialogue with China and USA. Therefore, he explained, that as per his analysis, both of them are currently not trying to cause the downfall of the state government.

On the rumour about JD(S) legislators leaving the party, Devegowda said none from his party would be leaving. He said that the resignation by Congress MLA, Ramesh Jarkiholi, is not a new development. He asked whether the resignation was submitted to the assembly speaker by Jarkiholi.

He noted that Anand Singh has certain issues relating to his constituency, adding that there might be some personal problems too. He pointed out that both the above resignations have not yet been accepted so far.
