Bantwal, Jul 3: Thieves entered a house through the roof after removing tiles whilst the inmates were away and decamped with cash and jewellery here.

The incident happened in the house of Mohammed Rafik at Jogibettu, near Gadiyara, NH 75 on the night of July 2. Thieves stole 35 sovereign gold and one lac rupees from the cupboard in the house.

Rafik had gone to the house of his relatives in Shantinagar, Uppinangadi at about 9 pm when the thieves struck. The theft came to light when he returned in the morning on July 3.



Vitla station SI Yellappa and staff visited the spot. Forensic experts and canine squads visited the place.
