Chikkaballapur: Small screen actor arrested for allegedly raping TV actress

Chikkaballapur, Jul 4: After a female TV artiste filed a complaint against a Mysuru-based TV actor, accusing him of raping her seven years back, the actor concerned stands arrested.

TV actor Tejas Gowda alias Abhi Gowda, who also works as production manager, stands arrested. The said case has been registered in the town police station here.

The lady said that she was a student in a private engineering college in Chikkaballpur in 2012, when Tejas Gowda, who was her classmate, befriended her. She said that he claimed to be in love with her and raped her. When she resisted, he promised to marry her, she has claimed. She also said that Tejas continued to rape her several times with the promise of marriage.

She has said that in December 2018, he visited her when she was in a room and developed physical contact by promising to marry her. "I got pregnant. He pressurized me to abort the pregnancy. Under his insistence, I obliged. I was quiet till now in the belief that he would marry me. But he is now preparing to marry another girl," she has complained.

The artiste also claimed that the accused had threatened her to upload the pictures of videos of their personal meetings in social websites if she files police complaint. She also claimed that he had also threatened to spray acid on her face in such a case.
