Karkala: Former MLA Gopal Bhandary’s funeral held with state honours

Karkala, Jul 5: Funeral of former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary was held with state honours at Hebri near here at his residence on Friday, July 5. 

Minister Dr Jayamala paid the respects on behalf of the state. 

Host of leaders from different parties and hundreds of people took part in the funeral.

Karkala, Jul 5: Minister of state women and children’s welfare department and district in charge minister Dr Jayamala, former chief minister M Veerappa Moily, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA Sunil Kumar, former MLA U R Sabhapathi and others paid their last respects to former MLA of Karkala, Gopal Bhandary at Kisan Bhavan, Karkala on July 5.

Minister U T Khader, MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Cap Ganesh Karnitk, Prathap Chandra Shetty, chairman, Legislative Council, A G Kodgi, former MLA Vasanth Bangera, Muniyallu Uday Kumar Shetty, Dr Gerald Issab Lobo, bishop, Udupi diocese, Fr Gregore D'souza, director, St Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur, Fr Edwin D'Souza, parish priest, St Joseph Church, Belman, Fr Vincent Crasta, secretary, CESU, Udupi diocese paid their last respects. 

 

Gopal Bhandary passed away on Thursday, July 4 due to heart attack.
