Mangalore, May 25: The water level at the Tumbe vented dam that supplies drinking water to the city, has reached its peak. Some of the crest-gates at the dam were opened some days ago, in order to maintain a steady level.   
 
The torrential rains since a week, in Western Ghats and the hinter lands have increased the water inflow in to Netravati River and Kumaradara rivulet.  As a result, the catchments area of Tumbe vented dam has been  overflowing, thereby easing the shortage of water  the residents across the city had been experiencing since some weeks. 
 
The water level at the Tumbe vented dam is being steadily maintained at 11 feet and 10 inches. The height of the dam is 13 feet.
 
The new water distribution facility  not linked to Thumbe vented dam -  still on  experimental stage:
 
The new distribution facility linked to Tumbe vented dam, is being currently run on an experimental basis and  has not been switched over to,  officially.  The water is being supplied to various overhead tanks in the city limits by pumping water  from Tumbe to massive reservoir built at Padil located midway, informed the officials.
