Kundapur: Kollur Temple Governing Council: Quiet Manoeuvres on

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, May 28: Behind-the-scene activities are on, relating to the formation of the new governing council of Kollur Mookambika Temple. The term of the present council is set to end on June 28.

The governing council headed by Krishnaprasad Adyantaya will be completing three years in office. The present council was formed when the BJP-JDS combine was in power at the state. In every likelihood, JDS supported members Sablady Manjaiah Shetty, Kishore Kumar Hegde and Sharmila Yogish Acharya might lose their posts, as the BJP is in power in the state on its own at present.

The current managing trustee Krishnaprasad Adyantaya might be allowed another term in view of his proximity to the RSS, working in a big way for the success of B Y Raghavendra in Byndoor constituency and also because of the fact that no controversies erupted during his tenure. The government council claims, that the temple income has considerably risen during the three years and it has undertaken various projects including underground drainage, hostel construction, noon-meal programme for schools etc.

The important problems presently plaguing Kollur are the unbearable contamination of river Sauparnika which was considered holy in the past, lack of security in the temple town, lack of proper choultry for pilgrims, shortage of drinking water supply etc.
