Kundapur, May 30: "Enjoying something which does not rightfully belongs to us amounts to theft. Too many wants push people to resort to thefts. As the wants go up, they inflict unbearable miseries on the concerned. We have innumerable examples for this phenomenon, right from the mythological period to the present era," explained Hosanagar Ramachandrapur Mutt head Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji.

He was addressing a religious meeting organized at Maravante, on the occasion of the Brahmakalashotsav of Jakkanakatte Sri Durga Yaksheshwari temple Maravante on Friday May 29.

"The desire that took birth in Seeta to get the golden deer, yearning Ravana felt for getting Seeta, the irresistible hunger Duryodhana had to become emperor etc., gave rise to untold miseries in addition to leaving a trail of destruction and loss of lives. We observe now-a-days, a rising level of aspirations and desires among the people, to get hold of too much money, power and fame. Such hungers can be satiated through having a mind that is in a contented state through out," he explained.

Hornadu goddess Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple trustee G Bheemeeshwar Joshi who presided, called upon people to treat their lives as oblations in which enmity, jealousy and impatience are sacrificed.

Maravante Rajashekhar Hebbar, chairman of Indian Cultural Foundation Udupi, delivered cultural message. Retired lecturer S Janardan too spoke on the occasion.

Entrepreneur Byndoor Sukhanand Shetty and several other persons participated. Temple managing trustee M Jagadish Avabhruta welcomed. Upralli Manjunath Bhat proposed vote of thanks. Jatindera Maravante compered the programme.
