Udupi, Jun 8: "Removal of Hebri from the eligibility list of villages under the 'Suvarna Grama' scheme is the fall out of the conspiracy hatched by the BJP," alleged Karkala MLA H Gopal Bhandary. He was speaking at a press conference held at Hebri recently.

"The officials had selected the village last time, as it fulfils all the requirements under the said scheme, that envisages for the all round development of the selected villages. Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project had surveyed the village and training had been given at Gulbarga at a cost of Rs 60,000. However, surprisingly the name of the village got deleted from the list of beneficiaries under the said scheme. I had again recommended this village for being included in the Suvarna Grama list, but it has failed to get a mention in the list this time too," he complained.

Bhandary said that the question of cancelling the Suvarna Grama scheme nomination for Hebri village had been questioned in the High Court and the High Court had ordered the government to include Hebri under the said scheme. But, the present government, by not considering the village for this scheme, has committed contempt of court, he alleged.

Bhandary said that home minister Dr V S Acharya is a good leader and that Acharya has been restrained from functioning affectively because of the pressures being brought on him by the party cadres and leaders. His political will is not being given an opportunity to be exercised freely, Bhandary said, to the surprise of pressmen present at the press conference.
