Israel, June 8: Indian Community Israel organized a cultural evening, ‘Baila Shinvor,’ with dance, music, jokes and non-stop entertainment at the Performing Arts Center, Jabudensky -15, Harzilya, Israel on Saturday June 6.
Fr John Harry D’Souza, editor of 'Sevak' monthly, who was the chief guest of the programme, had come all the way from Mangalore. President of the Indian Community Israel, John D’Souza, secretary Peter D’Souza, vice-president Benna D’Souza and Juliana were present on this occasion and escorted the chief guest, Fr John Harry D’Souza to the dais. Anil Dias welcomed the gathering.
Newly-elected office-bearers of the Indian Community Israel for the year 2009-10 took their oath in the presence of Fr Jayshelan (religious priest from India serving now in Israel) and Prakash D’Souza.
Director of the grand show, ‘Baila Shinvor’, Wilson D’Souza Kulshekar, who is popularly known as Wilson Kalakar, formally inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with the other guests present on the dais.
The cultural programmes were organized with the twin efforts of the Indians now serving in Israel along with the Indian Jewish group, ‘Namste Israel’. Joyce performed a Barathnatyam dance and welcomed the gathering.
‘Galaxy,’ a beat group with Roshan Crasta, Prakash Fernandes , Cloy Carvalo, Reggie Fernandes, Satish Shetty, Sanju Fernandes, Ram Kumar, Stany, Shaila, Nisha and Sofia as its members, sang melodious songs in Konkani, Kannada, Hindi and Tamil languages and mesmerized the audience with their sweet voices and perfect rendition.
Indian Jewish Group, ‘Namaste Israel,’ led by David along with Wilson D’Souza gave a sizzling dance performance to the tunes of Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and Tamil numbers.
Fr John Harry D’Souza addressed the gathering and felicitated Wilson D’Souza as the most young and talented director. Fr Jayshelan distributed prizes to all the winners in the sports events held earlier in the month of May. Anil Dias proposed the vote of thanks. Peter D’Souza compered the formal programme.
Wilson Kalakar along with his troupe Nancy, Shalet, Naveen, Avil and Avil Miranda presented jokes that evoked peels of laughter from the audience.
Wilson D’Souza specially thanked the entire team of Daijiworld, Mandd Sobhann, Nellu Permannur, all his friends and the artists for their continuous support and guidance for making this show a grand success.
Attractive and creative stage set up with special light effects added to the success of this grand show. The programme was viewed by an audience of about 500 people, who enjoyed every minute of the entertaining show. Naveen Furtado compered the cultural programme. The audiences then danced to the non-stop baila tunes for an hour and refreshed memories of their maigavn.
