Bangalore: MLA reiterates Demand for ping Minister Halappa

Bangalore, Jun 9: BJP MLA from Sagar, Shimoga district, Beloor Gopalakrishna reiterated his earlier demand for the dropping of minister Haratal Halappa from the ministry. He said, he stands by his earlier demand for holding an inquiry into the reasons for the reverses the party suffered in Sorab constituency, contributing to the less-than satisfactory performance of the party in Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, even though the BJP candidate won.

Speaking to reporters at Vidhan Soudha here on Monday June 8, he noted that the government had released sufficient funds for development works and had implemented several people-friendly programmes. Still, like in Shimoga, votes polled by the party in Sorab were much less. There is a need to find out reasons for this phenomenon, he added.

"I am not asking for the resignation of Halappa in his individual capacity. The government has extended lot of help to Ediga community, which has a sizeable presence in Sorab constituency. Still, votes did not come as expected. In the past, the Chief Minister had said, he would hold the concerned ministers responsible for the shortage of votes the BJP might suffer in their constituencies. I am just reminding the CM what he said," Beloor added.

He however, hastened to say that he is neither unhappy nor did he support dissidence. "The CM is my leader and I have not issued any statement against him. I do not know why Arun Jaitley is coming here," he said in reply to questions by reporters.
