Mangalore: Sighting of Unidentified Ship near Manjeshwar Raises Concern

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 10: The intelligence department has been investigating the report of the appearance of an unidentified ship in the sea near Musody, Manjeshwar, as the incident has raised security concerns.

An unidentified ship had mysteriously appeared at Musody Kadappura about 10 days back and had gone away after anchoring there for some time. The fishermen involved with fishing activity at the coast had passed on this information to the policemen.  The fishermen had seen some boxes being thrown into the sea from the ship. Kerala state intelligence wing was appraised of the incident.

The fact that the incident occurred at Musody Kadappur, which already is in the security radar and that it went away within a few minutes, has given rise to suspicions. The intelligence wing is not in a position to allay the apprehension that the boxes thrown by the ship might be containing explosives. Immediately after the ship was sighted, Kasargod customs superintendent K Kumaran and Manjeshwar customs superintendent M S Siddeshwar had led a team of officials who kept constant vigil at the shore.

Patrolling is being undertaken at the seashore. The state already has received alerts about the chances of terrorists using the Kerala coast for their operations. Coast guard has been put on high alert all over Kerala coast and no stone is being left unturned to ensure that the coast of Kerala does not allow terrorists to sneak into the country.
